Background

Uricko Freeman is a pirate captain in S&B inspired by the notorious figures Thomas Tew and Henry Avery.

He gained infamy through a daring heist of the DMC ship Schaduw between 1688 & 1690 – most likely in 1689.

On June 5, 1688, Freeman boarded King Mwenye‘s ship, promising freedom from servitude in the pirate paradise Lanitra.

Between June 5, 1688 and June 4, 1690. Captain Freeman attacked and robbed the DMC Galleon Schaduw. The success of this action is considered infamous and is the focus of the Investigations, multi-part contracts which add context to this robbery.

By June 4, 1690, Freeman had returned to Lanitra, with two named crewmates, Luuk and Arnold Silver. Luuk lost both legs as a result of the Heist.  Freeman subsequently left Lanitra for an unknown destination. Arnold left with the enigmatic Freeman, leaving Luuk behind in Lanitra.

On the 18th January, 1691, the French King declared a 50’000 silver bounty on the capture of Freeman.

Freeman did not return to Lanitra before its destruction sometime in early to mid 1691, as a result of John Scurlock's betrayal.

The last known whereabouts of Arnold was Dutchman’s Camp on 25 December, 1691 when he was killed attacking a DMC ship, the Opwelling. The Opwelling was rumoured to be an old cargo ship carrying Pearls and Spice, but was instead an elaborate DMC sting which resulted in the deaths of all pirates involved.

In November 1695, The Captain took a bounty to hunt Jacques Sorrel, a famous French author and wanted for withholding knowledge about the Schaduw. Notably, Sorrel authored the popular children’s story book “Kit the Tiger,” which allegedly drew parallels between the children’s tale and events in Lanitra. Sorrel’s tiger was an allegory of the flag which Freeman used during the Schaduw heist.
