a wandering philosopher

Yesterday I rowed beneath a great roar of broadsides, explosive Rempah rockets searing past DMC cannonballs.

The splintering wood sounded much the same where I rowed.

Violence and viciousness are traits rarely considered within oneself, but often deemed rampant in others.

Yet how sobering it must be to learn of a shared love of buttered bread, with someone just shot dead.

Perhaps before a battle may commence, the old adage should be comtemplated: though I might see the other as a strangeer, the stranger is just like me.
