Dearest Cousin,

How is your village fairing? Many of us here are glad for the arrangement with Mr. Scurlock. I have not met him, but accoridng to the Elder, he is a wise businessman who will bring our people prosperity.

It is true that we have better clothes and food now, but when I see our children in foreign garments, something does not sit right with me. Just the other day, young Andromana told me that she did not see the need to fish with a harpoon anymore as we get our supplies from the pirates. I was beside myself with anger, but she could not understand why.

Our people are changing with the times, and I worry we have lost toom much of ourselves to foreign abundance.

Tsiara
