Fit for Scurlock himself, the red and golden plates were forged to be the strongest when they are at their weakest point.

Resolute – Reduces all damage taken by 50% when Hull Health is less than 33%.
In PvP, the Black Prince is arguably the best armor currently available to Kingpins. The Resolute perk halves all incoming damage after the shot damage has been calculated. It is susceptible to Flooding damage, which could be an exploitable weakness by a calculating captain. The Black Prince is able to resist Tearing damage, but only when in Resolute is active.
Glamorous and golden. An invitation to all pirates to pursue their own riches.
The Royal Custodian can be looted as a rare drop from World Convoys and Cutthroat Cargo.

Refortify – Applies the Fortified effects for 12 seconds after using a repair kit, which increases Armor by 35%. (Increases Physical Damage reduction from 53.5% to 70%)
The Custodian is amongst the best armour in the game. If offers complete elemental damage resistance, with the exception of Tearing and a good base damage resist. The Refortify perk can make the difference between suriving an engagement or sinking.
Engineered by La Peste’s cronies. Its surface is coated to be resistant to their own toxic arsenal.
The Wailing Ward is available in the Black Market for 450 Sovereigns.

Toxic Resistance – Reduces Damage and Crew Stamina depletion from toxic attacks by 50%
Like Wrathful Ward, the Wailing Ward offers good physical damage resistance and low levels of resistance to any elemental attack. Important for engaging enemies like Season 1’s La Peste, but outside of that and the extremely rare occasion you meet a player with Wrathful Ward; you’re simply better off with the more readily available Royal Custodian or Black Prince.
Smeared with toxic chemicals and effuses putrid fumes with every creat of the waves.
The Wrathful Ward can be bought from the Black Market for 450 Sovereigns; or can be looted rarely from the La Peste’s event lockboxes.

Venomous Vengeance – When your ship gets hit while Bracing, a noxious cloud is released around your ship that deals 3000 Poison damage and depletes Crew Stamina. Has a cooldown of 10 seconds.
Wrathful Ward offers good physical damage resistance and low levels of resistance to any elemental attack. It is let down by a situational perk, which makes it less useful than Black Prince and Royal Custodian. In the hands of an enterprising Captain, it could make for an interesting surprise in close quarters.
Sewn together from the hide of the Kuharibu, a sea monster fabled to possess powerful regenerative properties.
Ouroburos can be crafted and requires 4 Scales and 4 Teeth from the Kingpin Tylosaurus.
The Blueprint can be bought from the Sea People Hunter at Lanitra.

Amalgate – Restores 15% of Hull Health while bracing. The effect only occurs after bracing ends. (The armour heals 15% of the damage taken by the Brace, not 15% of your total Hull Health).
Restoration – Restores 100 Severe Damage every second.
In comparion to its Epic peers, Ouroburos is outperformed by generic defence (the Wards) or always useful perks (Prince & Custodian). When used with the Snow or Hulk, it could find an interesting niche that fits with the high Brace value of those ships. But then, you could just take a Custodian or a Black Prince and use a Repair Kit.
